I met Jim Peterik and his wife, Karen, at the One of a Kind Art Show in Chicago, on a frigid Saturday before Christmas in 2006. Jim was drawn to my unique style of painting. He dashed over to my custom hand-painted guitar as it hung surrounded by my framed oil collection.

While Jim, Karen and I talked about art and guitars I learned he wrote Vehicle--one of my all-time favorite dance tunes--with The Ides of March. Peterik also wrote and performed Eye of the Tiger with Survivor for Rocky III. Meeting a talent of Jim’s level inspired me. I offered to paint one of his songs on any guitar in his collection. As we parted, Jim said, “We’ll do business.”

The next day Karen appeared at the art show with a beautiful Fender Telecaster. I took the instrument home and at Jim’s request I painted my interpretation of “Eye of the Tiger” on it. I covered the back of the guitar with a provocative nude and decorated the headstock with a yellow tiger eye.

When I delivered Jim’s custom-painted guitar he was ecstatic; Karen also flipped! Jim suggested we partner on a collection of art guitars. In the past year I had dreamed of painting guitars for rock stars. Now we are creating and marketing art guitars to top stars in the music industry including Joe Trohman, Lead Guitarist, Fall Out Boy (featured on the cover of Rolling Stone; 2007).
